Eastern Spinebill

The Eastern Spinebill (Acanthorhynchus tenuirostris) is a honeyeater native to southeastern Australia, inhabiting forests, woodlands, and urban gardens in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Hobart. Measuring about 15 cm in length, it features distinctive black, white, and chestnut plumage, a red eye, and a long downcurved bill. Hard to see at Bimbi but a real treat.

Where to see them: In around the flowering trees and shrubs.
