Walking with Frank – Great Ocean Walk & Otways Hiking
These Cape Otway walks are some of the most spectacular sections of the Great Ocean Walk. I’ve walked many of these multiple times… through the wild Otways around Cape Otway, as well as tracks in Samos, Greece, filming them as part of Walking with Frank. These are real walks through forest, coastal cliffs and river crossings — and here I’ve included distances, terrain notes and what you’ll actually see out there. If you’re planning the Great Ocean Walk or simply love the Otways, I hope you find the information and videos helpful. If you need advice about the Great Ocean Walk, feel free to email or call me at info@bimbipark.com.au.
👣 Why I Walk
I didn’t start walking for content — I started because I needed to. I was overweight, my blood sugar and blood pressure were high, and the gym just wasn’t me. While in Samos, my cousin — who walks with the local club — said, “Forget the gym. Just come walk.” That’s where it all began. Now I love it, my weight is stable and the numbers are good again — I could probably drop a few more kilos, but I do enjoy a good wine.

There are steady climbs and rolling sections before the final drop onto Johanna Beach — a powerful stretch of sand with big Southern Ocean energy.
Why I Love This Walk
This one feels big. Wind, ocean, exposed headlands and that moment when Johanna opens up in front of you. It’s raw country. Not overly technical, but you feel like you’ve earned it by the end.
