Energy Efficiency and Solar Power
When we first arrived at Bimbi Park, we quickly realized that one of our biggest limitations was the minimal electricity supply available to the park. We receive just 2 phases of 80 amps each, while an average suburban home in Australia typically gets a 63 amp supply. That means Bimbi Park runs on less than three house supplies! This made energy efficiency to not compromise on our guest’s comfort an absolute necessity. It was difficult but we did it and are very proud of it.
Here are some of the steps we’ve taken to conserve energy for our future.

Lighting
One of the first things we tackled was switching all lighting from incandescent bulbs to LEDs. For instance, in the toilet block alone, we reduced our energy consumption from 60 bulbs at 80 watts each to 60 bulbs at just 10 watts each. That’s a drop from 4800 watts to just 600 watts. We applied the same upgrades in the camp kitchen, around the park and our existing cabins, vans and bunk rooms.

Cabins
Our commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop at lighting. All new cabins at Bimbi Park are built with the environment in mind, and our latest five cabins are entirely solar-powered, meaning they don’t draw from the grid at all. They have double-glazed windows, double-insulated walls and ceilings, and insulated floors. All appliances are high star rated. Moving forward, we plan to only install solar-powered cabins and accommodation.

Heaters
At Bimbi Park, we’re mindful of the environmental impact of energy use, especially when it comes to heating. Heating can consume a significant amount of power, much of which is still sourced from fossil fuels. To reduce unnecessary energy consumption and minimize our carbon footprint, we’ve installed timers on our heaters. This ensures they’re only on when needed, helping conserve energy and protect the surrounding environment. It’s one of the many steps we take to create a more sustainable and eco-friendly park for future generations.

Light Sensors and Timers
At Bimbi Park, we’ve installed motion and light sensors at our amenities block to ensure both energy efficiency and guest comfort. For safety, a basic lights remain on, but when you approach, the area lights up fully, making your experience more convenient. Our system is designed to activate automatically when the sun sets, and deactivates when the sun rises, thanks to a sensor outside that triggers the lights only when needed. This setup helps us reduce unnecessary electricity use while maintaining a welcoming and safe environment for our guests.

Appliances
All commercial refrigeration, water pumps, kitchen appliances both house hold and commercial are energy efficient. Nothing is introduced to Bimbi Park without thoroughly checking it’s energy efficiency.
We are committed to Energy Efficiency
At Bimbi Park, we are committed to responsible electricity use to reduce our environmental impact. By managing our energy consumption carefully, we help conserve resources and limit the strain on the planet. Sustainable energy practices are central to our efforts, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the beauty of our natural surroundings without unnecessary depletion of resources.

What Our Wonderful Guests Have To Say
Thank you for your wonderful reviews and kind words. We’re truly grateful to be here, and it’s a joy to share this place with amazing people like you.
The stay was made even better by Sophie. Thank you for upgrading us. Also very kind and informative about finding koalas and getting around the park.
Video on our social channels
On our drive to Apollo Bay we saw a koala and its baby just sitting on the edge of the road (and the mum koala couldn’t move). We contacted Bimbi Park reception who sent one of their staff out to collect the koalas and take them to a wildlife carer in Apollo Bay. This speaks volumes to me about park management as they were letting one of there staff come and collect the koalas whilst being paid by Bimbi Park - they could’ve easily have just given us a wildlife carer number and got us to do it.
The person who collected the koalas was the same young bloke who helped with the pizzas, the fish n chips, made the coffee in the morning at the coffee truck (maybe his name was Nathaniel as the coffee truck is called Nathaniel’s coffee cart) and he was also a koala picker upper 😊 - all round excellent people and park!
The owners clearly love their business, adding improvements but keeping the wonderful feel of the campgrounds.
The amenities are great too, clean, spacious, and plenty of hooks to hang clothes in the shower cubicles.
It's rare to find such a fun, relaxed, campground that caters for everyone with so many different areas to camp and accommodation options.
Having Koala's in the trees is very special too! 🌞
The park is lovely - lots of birds, koalas and some Kangaroos visible from our balcony. A very relaxing place to stay
Facilities were clean and the staff helpful.
The location was close to the things we wanted to see- The light station (worth a visit), the Redwood Grove and the Treetops Fly walk.
Would recommend.
An unforgettable stay.
Whilst cut short by a night, we still had a wonderful weekend away, and will definitely be back sometime in the future.
There is so much to do for the family and especially the kids. Mini golf, rock climbing water playground and a standard playground. Oh and don't forget to grab a bag of feed and give the cow, sheep, goats and chickens a feed. Keep a eye open above the goats to see koalas.
Great cooking facilities well enough for everybody and well kept and very clean. And if your so inclined brings some marshmallows as each site has its on fire pit ( wood is available to buy or you could go collect what you can find in the local area.
The only letdowns was the beds that were a bit lumpy/hard and the wifi being only available at the office area (we didn't have any reception on the grounds at all)
We also appreciated the help of the park staff to provide us with directions to different places of interest and hiking trails.
Finding a koala outside our cabin every morning was a great way to start the day!!
Bimbi Park is certainly well situated to explore the beauty of the Otways and we would highly recommend the park to anyone looking for a great, relaxing time away.
The facilities were great!
The owners were lovely.
Our kids loved all the activities to do around the park and loved getting up close to the Koalas and the beautiful native birds!
We enjoyed a lovely walk from the park to the Cape Otway lighthouse station.
It's been one of our favourite parks we have visited so far! Highly recommended staying at Bimbi Park! We will definitely be back.
we had the double room en-suite cabin— super luxurious! staff were extremely welcoming and the grounds overall were very well kept. the goats are also super friendly!
